Illinois-based artist Kim Curtis explains the role that waste and the environment play in her artwork, how her recent project Regeneration celebrates environmental victories including “comeback” species, and how success stories motivate us to keep fighting for a better future. She argues that although the large-scale systemic changes necessary for a sustainable transformation can only be achieved through governmental and corporate policies, individuals must force the creation of policy through research-based artwork, investment, and activism.
